Afro-Latino Presence in Early California

Sponsored by Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park - Click here to see any other events from this sponsor.

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Oakland, CA - "Afro-Latinos," writes Dr. Damany
Fisher of Mt. San Antonio College,
"helped shape the character of
California much as Puritans shaped
the character of New England." In
his book, Dr. Fisher uncovers the
great extent to which people of
mixed African descent shaped our
history.

This event is part of the Cultural
Crossroads lecture series, aimed at
exploring the modern day relevencies
and reflections found in the
settling of California. History,
community, and politics collide in
these edgy, open-ended discussions
with California's prominent
professors of history.

Wine and Damany Fisher's book will
both be sold to benefit Friends of
Peralta Hacienda Historical Park.

Free.
