The Normal Heart By Larry Kramer Directed by George C. Wolfe By special arrangement with Daryl Roth In the Kreeger Theater June 8-July 29, 2012
The story of a city in denial, The Normal Heart unfolds like a real-life political thrilleras a tight-knit group of friends refuses to let doctors, politicians and the press bury the truth of an unspoken epidemic behind a wall of silence. A quarter-century after it was written, this outrageous, unflinching, and totally unforgettable look at the sexual politics of New York during the AIDS crisis remains one of the theatres most powerful evenings ever. Arena Stage is proud to launch the national tour of this important and exhilarating work of theater, winner of three Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Play.

Oakland, CA -
"Afro-Latinos," writes Dr. Damany Fisher of Mt. San Antonio College, "helped shape the character of California much as Puritans shaped the character of New England." In his book, Dr. Fisher uncovers the great extent to which people of mixed African descent shaped our history.
This event is part of the Cultural Crossroads lecture series, aimed at exploring the modern day relevencies and reflections found in the settling of California. History, community, and politics collide in these edgy, open-ended discussions with California's prominent professors of history.
Wine and Damany Fisher's book will both be sold to benefit Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park.
COST: Free.
